FAQ's

How does mattress roll-packing work?

The roll-packing process is the safest and most efficient way to ship a mattress long distances. Each mattress is bagged, compressed, and rolled into a box. The relatively small box size size allows any of our mattresses to be shipped nationwide via UPS ground shipping. Also, the compact roll size makes it very easy to install the mattress in tight spaces (RV's, campers, etc.).

What makes this process possible is a machine that has been custom engineered to effectively and safely compress and roll all of our mattresses. All of the components we use have been thoroughly tested to function perfectly after being unpacked. The strong, individually-wrapped coil systems we use are also flexible, which allows them to be compressed, folded, and rolled without harm. The mattress fabrics and borders are designed to be stretchy, allowing the mattress to return to its original shape quickly with minimal wrinkling. As for the upholstery paddings used, they are the most flexible of all by using "open cell" technology. This allows the padding to be compressed in any direction and still return back to original shape. Since 2018, we've packaged and shipped thousands of mattresses with resounding success.

*The roll-packing process is the safest way to transport a mattress and significantly reduces the chance of it being damaged.

How big are the packages?

Approximate package sizes that will arrive to your home or business:

Mattresses:

  • All mattresses - except Cocoa & Caladesi: 45" x 16" x 16"
  • Cocoa & Caladesi mattresses up to 39" width: 45" x 16" x 16"
  • Cocoa & Caladesi mattresses 40" to 78" width:  45" x 19" x 19"

*Certain mattress sizes are folded before rolling, which makes the length of the rolled mattress inside the box around 1/2 the actual length of mattress.

*Multiple mattresses on one order may ship in the same box.

Foundations/Platform Bed Frames:

  • 76" x 14" 11"

Sheets, Protectors, Pads:

  • Size of box will vary depending on size and quantity of items ordered. Typically these boxes are on the small side and easily carried in your hands.

*Multiple bedding items may ship in the same box.

Our Shipping Policies

  1. Mattresses must be unpacked and removed from their plastic within 2 weeks of delivery. Longer than that could damage internal components, alter sizing and will void any product warranty.
  2. Custom Mattress Makers pays a one time delivery cost for UPS Ground or FedEx shipping to the address marked "shipping address" on the original order. There is no additional charge to the customer for this initial shipment.
  3. It is very important to monitor the tracking page provided in the shipping confirmation email. *In the event the package is not deliverable or is refused, a second delivery charge will apply and must be paid by the customer.
  4. If the original shipment is changed or altered by the customer, whether it's rerouted to a different address or a pick up is requested at a UPS or FedEx facility, that is done at the customer's sole discretion.  If a change is made by the customer and a redelivery of the mattress is required, that must be paid by the customer and not Custom Mattress Makers.
  5. Lost, stolen, or damaged packages: Custom Mattress Makers, to the best of their ability, will work in conjunction with the carrier to resolve any issues. In the event the package is stolen after being delivered, it is the responsibility of the customer to provide video and/or photo evidence of the package being stolen, as well as a copy of a police report filing with local authorities.
  6. UPS and FedEx cannot remove old mattresses and boxspring/foundations. If you are interested in having old bedding pieces removed, you can find some useful information here.
